At least once a week someone will call my show and say, “thanks for taking my call.” Every time I hear that I think what an odd thing to say. Of course I’ll take your call, its talk radio. Now more than ever listeners need to speak up and share their thoughts on topics that are important to them. For so long we have sat back and let someone else speak. Talk radio is not all about the voice behind the mic – (I’m sure some hosts would want you to think that) we need the two way communication to be successful. So pick up the phone and dial the number and show your passion! Can you imagine a day when the phone lines will be dead and it is only a one way conversation? Now that would be boring. So the listener plays a huge role in talk radio. Keep your dialing finger in shape, call a talk show today!

“The Tea Party” – a book worth reading

I had the pleasure of speaking with Elizabeth Price Foley about her new book, “The Tea Party: Three Principles” and found it to be the most honest look at the movement and the Americans behind it. Right from the Preface to the last page, Elizabeth outlines the principles, the beliefs and the driving factors behind this great movement.

The more one knows about the Constitution, however, the more one grows concerned, unless one thinks the constitution has (and should have) no real fixed meaing. There is an incessant drumbeat in one’s brain that says, “This is really importnat,” “You need to know this,” and “This country won’t survive if you don’t understand this.” Realizing how much the founders studied and understood the intricacies of political philosophy and the science of government – and what high hopes they had fr Americans to grasp these matters as well – creates an urgency about keeping their hopes from being extinguished.

If you buy only one book about the Tea Party this year – it should be this book!

My home base is the northeast but when you look out over this great land, we all are struggling with the same issues. Too much government – over regulation, our freedoms are being trampled on and working Americans are carrying the cost of entitlements for people who refuse to work or are in this country illegally. The time has come for all Americans to stand up and be counted and be involved in the political process. On Mondays show we’ll talk about where we are headed and what we can do about it. A Parade for Our Veterans

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America is asking all of us to sign their petition in support of a parade for our Veterans! St. Louis held a parade last month but why can’t each city across the US do the same. Visit their website and sign the petition. As their website points out – “If the Giants and Patriots can get a victory parade, why not Iraq Veterans?” said Paul Rieckhoff, founder and executive director of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. Fast and Furious – where is the mainstream media?

Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle, (NY25) joined me on Friday to discuss Fast and Furious and the oversight committee hearings. After watching the hearing I decided to watch the nightly national news to see how they reported what happened – or what didn’t or hasn’t happened. I watched two of the big three and was somewhat surprised nothing was mentioned. Not a single word, blip, ticker – nothing about Fast and Furious. I thought surely they would cover it to make it look like the committee is picking on AG Holder. Not even that! No mention! If you missed it, AG Holder was on the hot seat and was not happy with members when they asked why no one has taken responsibility for the death of Border Agent Terry and the hundreds of Mexican citizens who have been killed from Fast and Furious. At one point, AG Holder scolded the Congressman who asked him why no one has been held accountable. Is this the way inquiries should be answered? Is this the way the current administration should be answering inquiries?
